Description
-
This half armor crossbow has a cheek piece on the left side. It is completely covered with bone on the top and bottom. The bands are decorated with exquisitely engraved tendrils and scrollwork, as well as sea monsters. The top and bottom of the stock are engraved with masks, animal depictions, and frame and tendril work. A light, unadorned bone piece is inserted at the thumb pit used to guide the hand when aiming. A dark material covers the sides, which are completely decorated with finely inlaid animal and fantasy figures, as well as floral and tendril decorations made of engraved mother-of-pearl. The butt cap is decorated with a shield, with the number "1616" below. The four-axle nut lock with thread piercer has two piercing holes on the top of the stock. Remains of green-yellow pom poms are visible on the binding block. The prod is un-decorated, and on the right side of the bow's belly there is a mark in the shape of a quartered circle surrounded by five jagged points.
