Description
-
The stock has the typical shape of an armor crossbow and is made of fine-grained, brown fruit wood. The stock is fully covered with bone on the top and bottom. Depictions of monsters and animals are inlaid on the sides of the stock; the background surfaces form a pattern of finely inlaid bone and dot decoration. Above and below these depictions are strips of bone. At the base of the stock, the weapon is finished off by a thin steel plate. There is a cheek piece on the left side of the stock. In front of the groove for the bolt rest, the number “1631” is engraved above the initials “HL”. A piece of the bone plate has been broken out, revealing the hollowed-out lock case. The conical spindle, the nut thread, and the protective bracket are missing from the simple four-axle nut lock. Behind the lock, a lug for a spanning mechanism penetrates the stock. An angularly shaped cloverleaf forms the setting head of the reinforcing. The bolt rest is missing. The bolt holder made of dark horn is damaged, and the brown thread binding is cut open at the front. The prod is missing.
