Description
-
The prod is likely made of steel. It attaches to the wooden stock with bindings. There are pom-poms attached to the bindings.
The sides of the stock are covered with small beads made of bone, adhered with wax.
The top and bottom of the stock are covered with bone overlay carved with designs of foliage and scrollwork. The underside is finely carved with female figures, and near the butt of the crossbow, there is the number 1572. This crossbow has a four-axle lock system. According to “Die Armbrust: Schrecken und Schönheit,” an inventory book links this crossbow to Kaiser Wilhelm II, who gave it as a gift.
