Description
-
The crossbow is made of ebony slightly bellied in the middle. It is veneered on the sides and top with blackened bone inlays. A brighter bone inlay is used for the bolt rest as well as the decorations near the butt on top and on the sides in the form of trophy bundles. The cheek rest features a portrayal of Wilhelm Tell and his son hunting with a crossbow and catching a fish. Some of the bone inlays have been replaced.
A steel bow corded with braided hemp string is secured to the front of the stock with hemp cord. The original green pom poms surround the hemp string. The bowstring is also made of hemp cord slightly frayed. A metal suspension is riveted on the front of the stock. The sight is missing.
The lock mechanism is a set trigger with intact iron flap lock and a curved iron trigger guard.
