Description
-
This 19th-century target crossbow features a rectangular wooden stock with curved edges at the bottom of its front end. The stock narrows toward the butt before flaring outwards. At the butt of the stock is a symbol of a compass rose inlay. The steel prod passes through the middle of the stock and is fixed in place with metal plates on either side. In front of the prod is a metal pin running through the crossbow. The entire trigger system is made of metal, and the lock is a snap lock mechanism made of what is likely brass metal. The crossbow has been restored, with repairs being made to the back of the prod, trigger guard, and stock. The condition of the crossbow is deemed to be functional.
