Description

This Flemish target crossbow is the second in a series of four Medieval styled crossbow replicas, dated to around the 19th or 20th centuries. This crossbow consists of a wooden stock that is flat on the top surface of the stock’s fore end and tapers toward the butt. This top surface at the front of the stock features a decorative symbol of the letter ‘W’, a crown, and other carved decoration. The upper part of the stock has a bolt groove, and behind it is a metal backsight. The bottom middle portion of the stock features a carved wooden rest that curves. Toward the butt of the stock is an image of a crossbow bolt with red feathers, while the butt of the stock is capped with an acorn-shaped metal knob. The trigger is made of metal. The prod of the crossbow is made of wood and passes through the middle of the stock, and the string is made of plant fiber.
