Description
-
This heavy disc crossbow is fitted with a heavy steel prod strung with hemp string and secured with screwed in brass bow clamps. The square walnut stock features a serpentine butt carving at the end. On the top, it is lined with a recessed bolt groove, catch lock with hair trigger and set trigger. A diopter sight behind the catch is in the shape of a male figure. Length-adjustable shoulder rest on the underside, with an acorn-shaped brass balance weight at the end of the stock.
Hermann Historica mentions that it is an unusually large example of this type of target crossbow, which is still used in competitions in Belgium today. The crossbow is rested on the shoulder, and the counterweight ensures a steady aim.
