Description
-
This double crossbow mechanism is inlaid with gold and has gold-painted silver knobs with the engravings of an octopus-like creature. The detailing on the knobs signify its mark of ornate craftsmanship from Jin and Chu regions. It has a rare double-barreled structure that allows for the simltaneous loading and firing of two arrows. The main receiver is cast in bronze with gold inlay and gold lines outline linear geometrical border above the bluish-green bronze oxide patina. The sides and back of the receiver are carved with gold inscriptions of archaic Chinese characters and the top of the bars appear to be gilded with animalistic silhouettes in gold.
