Description
-
At the tip of this crossbow, there is a stylized blunt spike. There is a sight with a metal stick to the side, protruding vertically upwards. It is possible that there used to be another stick on the opposite side which broke off. The prod is made of steel and bow irons secure it to the fruitwood stock. The other metal parts are made of chiseled iron. The stock has very fine and extensive inlaid designs. These designs include faces (some stylized, some realistic), winged cherubs, animals, landscapes, flowers, and fruits. There is a background design of curling branches and circles which could represent fruits, nuts, leaves or flower buds. There are also friezes or strips of decoration at various places.
It is worth pointing out that there is a large foldable sight on top of the stock, which features beautiful curling designs. Behind that area, there are two sculptures of scrollwork. On the underside of the stock there is a hair trigger and a trigger guard.
The butt of the stock ends in a simple flat knob.
