Description
-
This crossbow has a wrought iron prod, upon which is written “ANTOINE FOURNIEZ 1757.” Bow irons connect the prod to the fruitwood stock. The stock is painted with a few decorative motifs, including lines and a pinwheel. The nut is made of bone. The sight is made of iron, and the other metal details are made of iron as well. The trigger system appears to be an example of a double set trigger. It is protected with a trigger guard. The most striking feature of this crossbow is the large suspension ring, which is shaped like the outline of a cloven hoof.
