Description
-
This crossbow is thought to be the first probably by Edward McEwen. The prod is composite, painted black and retained by blackened strings tied to hooks on the stock. The bowstring is made of twisted cord. The stock is painted green with horn enclosing the brass lock. The hardwood stock has a brass-lined bolt channel, and iron mounts. The crossbow is fitted with a tubular arrow aperture and an additional later hand-rest.
