Description
-
This crossbow is most likely one that is owned by a noble and used for hunting which is suggested by its intricate inlaid design. The bow is made from steel and has engravings of masks and foliage. It has a carved wooden tiller which is engraved with floral and leaf designs. The top of the stock is made from a staghorn plaque which depicts men using arquebuses, floral patterns, foliage, and masks. The trigger and trunnions are made from steel and are set in place to be able to attach a cranequin. The trigger and the rope may be original components.
